CRITICAL THINKING

Yesterday we worked on a critical thinking activity that required us to type up an html document. First, we had to type it up on text edit and see how it would look like. When we opened the html document on firefox/safari it looked a little plain except for a few things. The first thing i noticed was the words banner and spoon illustration in a box. They were both underlined. RIght in the middle o f both was the name LUNA. This was also underlined. If you click on them they lead to either the school website or Ms. Ramirez's own site. Other than that, it looks pretty much plain.

What is an HTML tag?

An HTML tag is basically a code of words or numbers surrounded by brackets. (<>)
It defines a format change or hypertext link.
It helps you see how the website will look like.

What is http and html?

HTTP:
defines how messages are formatted when typed in the search window. Once determined, it will bring up the requested site.

HTML:
If typed, it will read the title and hopefully pull up the webpage in the right form. It will read a short code that is a little similar to http. To type your own html you have to use certain tags to display your information.

What is a browser?

A web browser is basically several software programs that allow you to view any information on the world wide web. This includes things like websites, videos, etc. A web browser also has specific parts as well.
the four types of web browsers would be:
-Microsoft internet explorer
-Opera
-Mozilla firefox
-Safari

What is W3C?

W3C stands for World Wide Web Consortium.
It is the main organization standards for the web.
It ensured the compatibility and agreement among industry members.
The W3C was located in Massachusetts Institute of Technology but moved the host to Europe.
The W3C is funded by the European Commission and the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency.
WWW is what you must type in to visit the world wide web. It is what allows you to view the webpage you wish. W3C is an international community work together to develop web standards.
Lee is called the inventor of the web because he was the one who founded the World Wide Web Foundation.
He is also a researcher there.
An open source refers to a software with a source code. It is under license of protection of the original authors.
Fo r an Open Standard, you do not need permission to create your own software. You don't even need to get a license. In other worlds you can freely create your own personal webpage about yourself or anything else.

what is http?

Http stands for Hypertext Transfer Protocol. It is what you would normally type in a search box. It goes right before the actual webpage address. All i know is that this code is used to retrieve information from the internet.

The difference between the net and the web

The net can be visibly seen by a person.
It is the actual internet itself.
It includes things such as network cables that can help transfer information.
The web can help you view whatever you need to know on the internet.
It will help you view things like music and other things like schoolwork.
The web, in other words, it's just the actual webpage.

My Expectations for Web Design

I expect to learn a lot more about computers (especially the macintosh) in his course. I know this course will be a bit difficult but i know i can manage if i try. i want to learn all the new types of programs a computer has to offer. If i can, i would like to master them all. I want to be able to learn the programs and the type of advantages and disadvantages hey have.
I expect my teacher to stay motivated and continue to teach us well. I expect them to finish teaching us what they want to know.i also expect them to show and treat all students with respect (that is, if the student also shows respect to them as well).
I expect my peer to know when to keep their mouths shut and listen. I also expect them to be respectful to others.
I expect myself to be on task with my work. I'm going to do my work and try to be the best student i can be.
